Health Champions inspire others to adopt a healthy lifestyle

There are thousands of Health Champions across the UK, helping to point people to the services and support that will help them make positive behavioural changes.

Health Champions work with local health services, such as a pharmacy, or in the workplace, developing initiatives to support staff health and wellbeing. They are active in faith groups, sports clubs, social groups and more – promoting healthier lifestyle choices for all.

Training can range from several hours to several weeks and Health Talks uses the RSPH qualifications as the baseline syllabus to ensure consistency with other national schemes.

Health Champions will learn about the following areas:

The inequalities in health that develop and what the current policies are for addressing these
How effective communication can support health messages and encourage people to make positive changes to their health
Ways to promote improvements in health and wellbeing to others
The impact of change on improving an individual's health and wellbeing
.

Our Health Champions make health promotion interesting and engaging with campaigns like these:

Meno Paws walk & talk dog walking sessions

Black Dog cycling club for men with depression & anxiety

Magic Mondays - 30 minute movement sessions during lunch breaks

Lunchtime Smiles - encouraging healthier use of workplace lunch breaks

Community litter picking to get people out and about and making friends

Wellness Wednesdays - 30 minute walks from the office
